Welcome to RetroMods.net! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website, services, and community features provided by RetroMods.net. By accessing or using RetroMods, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. Eligibility & Age-Tiered Features

You must provide accurate information when registering (including accurate Date of Birth) and are responsible for keeping your login secure and for all activity on your account. Do not impersonate others or share your account.

RetroMods.net employs tiered access controls based on user age:

• Users Under 13 (Child Accounts): Permitted with accurate Date of Birth verification. Accounts are strictly limited to viewing and read-only access. Public posting, content submission, and Direct Messaging (DMs) are entirely disabled. Users may customize profile appearance/layout, but all personal details remain private and hidden from public view. Parents/guardians may request account review or deletion at any time by contacting support@retromods.net.
• Users Ages 13 to 17 (Teen Accounts): Permitted to post content, comment, and participate in community discussions. Basic details (such as age) may be displayed on public profiles. Direct Messaging (DMs) is restricted by default; users must submit a request to site administrators and receive approval before DM functionality is enabled.
• Users Ages 18+ (Adult Accounts): Full access to all platform features, including public posting, direct messaging, and profile customization, subject to compliance with these Terms.

2. Community Conduct

Be respectful. No harassment, hate speech, threats, spam, targeted abuse, or unauthorized advertising. Users must not attempt to bypass age restrictions or provide false Date of Birth details. Administrators and moderators may remove content, suspend, or ban accounts that violate these terms or community guidelines, with or without notice.

Suspensions & IP bans: After an account's 3rd suspension, an administrator may IP ban the user to prevent them from creating additional accounts. When you sign up, a record of your acceptance of these Terms, the Privacy Policy and this suspension policy is kept, together with a summary of your activity on the site (such as Hangout Center messages and the number of suspensions) for moderation purposes.

3. User Content & Intellectual Property

You are responsible for everything you upload or post. Do not share anything illegal, infringing, or that you do not have the right to distribute. This includes pirated software, leaked content, confidential information, and copyrighted game files (ROMs, ISOs, BIOS files, etc.). You retain ownership of your original content and mods, but you grant RetroMods a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, and distribute it on the site for the purpose of operating the service.

4. AI-Generated Content Policy

AI-generated art, designs, music, and videos are strictly not permitted. Such content may be removed and may result in account suspension or banning. Only share creative work you made yourself.

AI-assisted code and tutorials are allowed, provided you review and understand what you post, it is accurate and safe, and it does not violate any other section of these Terms.

5. Copyright, DMCA & Repeat Infringers

We respect intellectual property rights. If you believe content on RetroMods infringes your copyright, please consult our DMCA page or contact support@retromods.net. Repeat infringers will have their accounts terminated.

6. Third-Party Downloads, Links & Safety

Mods, files, and links posted by users are provided by the community. RetroMods does not review every upload and is not responsible for their safety, legality, or compatibility. Download and use them at your own risk, and always scan files before running them.

7. Account Management, Deletion & Inactivity

• Self-Service Deletion: You have the right to delete your account and associated personal data at any time directly through your account settings page on RetroMods.net.
• Support Assistance: If you need help deleting your account, reach out to support@retromods.net.
• Account Inactivity Policy: RetroMods reserves the right to archive or delete inactive accounts (e.g., no login activity for 2 or more consecutive years) or reclaim inactive usernames to maintain platform health and system availability.

8. Mod Hosting, Hardware Liability & Warranty Disclaimer

RetroMods.net is strictly an informational and file-sharing community. RetroMods.net and its staff are not responsible for bricked consoles, damaged hardware, corrupted software, broken modifications, or voided manufacturer warranties resulting from attempting mods, following tutorials, or downloading files from the site. All modifications and downloads are undertaken at your own risk.

9. Changes & Termination

We may update these terms at any time; continued use means you accept the changes. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access at our discretion.

10. Disclaimer & Trademarks

RetroMods is an independent community and is not affiliated with, authorized, or endorsed by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Microsoft Corporation, Nintendo Co., Ltd., Sega, or any other video game hardware manufacturer. All product names, logos, brands, and console designs are the property of their respective owners and are used for identification and descriptive purposes only. Their use does not imply endorsement or affiliation.

This website features original fan-created artwork. Depicted console designs and logos (including 'PlayStation', 'PS2', 'GameCube', etc.) are trademarks of their respective owners. If you are a rights holder and have a concern, please contact us at support@retromods.net.

RetroMods is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uptime, server availability, data retention, or compatibility with any hardware or software. Keep local backups of anything important. 11. Dispute Resolution & Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Users agree to attempt informal resolution by contacting support@retromods.net prior to initiating formal legal proceedings.

12. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
